Araw ng Kagitingan
The Day of Valor or also known as “Araw ng Kagitingan” or “Araw ng Bataan o Araw ng Bataan at Corregidor” is an observance in the Philippines commemorating the fall of Bataan on April 9, 1942 in World War II. This celebrated our heroes who gave a piece in our country, who helped and save the filipino from the fight of japanese. It honors those thousands of people who fight the japanese in World Was II and respecting their character as we give them the appreciation from what they did to us and to not forget these people. This is celebrated every year since that every generation and old generation will know this and always remember that these people was the one who died for our country.
One of the hero is Jose Cabalfin Calugas was a member of the Philippine Scouts during World War II. He received the Medal of Honor for actions during the Battle of Bataan.
Another is Alexander Ramsey Nininger Jr. was a Second Lieutenant of the Philippine Scouts who was killed in action in the Battle of Bataan. He was the first Medal of Honor recipient of World War II.
Willibald Charles Bianchi was an officer in the Philippine Scouts who received the Medal of Honor for actions in Bataan, Philippines during that country's capitulation to Japanese forces during World War II.
These three was recognized because of their strong confidence in facing those japanese and was honored by giving them a gold medal as they save our country.
These are not the only heroes who save our country because a lot of people was a part of the war and sacrifice their lives first the sake and to free the philippines from japanese. That’s why we always celebrate this so that we know what did they do to save our country and to give them respect by saluting our greatest soldiers.
